Why Do We Need to Save the Dog Park?
The Lakewood Dog Park is in danger of being shut down. There is a lawsuit pending against the city of Lakewood to close the park.
Why Would Someone Want to Close the Park?
Those suing to close the park allege that the park causes odor, noise, and biting.

Wasn't This Case Settled Already? Is it Back?
This case was originally dismissed, but was quickly appealed by the plaintiffs. The appellate court ruled that the case should not have been dismissed originally. The case is now back in the original court to be tried.
What is Happening With the Case Now?
A settlement conference was scheduled to be held on February 26th. If no settlement was reached, the following dates, which were gathered from the docket, apply. DISCOVERY TO BE COMPLETED BY 4/27/2010. PLAINTIFF'S EXPERT REPORT DUE 5/11/2010. DEFENDANT'S EXPERT REPORT DUE 6/11/2010. BENCH TRIAL SET FOR 7/8/2010 AT 10 AM. SETTLEMENT CONFERENCE SET FOR 02/12/2010 AT 10:00 AM. BENCH TRIAL SET FOR 07/08/2010 AT 10:00 AM.

The trial is currently scheduled for mid July 8th. This docket number of this civil case is CV-07-630510 and can be easily looked up online.

The Lakewood Sun Post ran an article about our rally titled Lawsuit over Lakewood Dog Park nears settlement with creative solutions.

The Lakewood Observer recently ran an article titled Give a Bark to Save the Park.

There was also an article in the WestLife newspaper back in December, but it isn't available online right now.
